TVLINE | Over the summer you told me you were going to pitch [Glee co-creator] Ryan Murphy a Kurt/Blaine story that had never been told on TV before. Was this the story?
No. I’m still pitching. [Laughs] My story might be a little too controversial.
TVLINE | Can you say yet what that story is?
No, I don’t want to jinx it. But trust me, you’ll know. Your jaw will hit the floor.
TVLINE | What was your reaction when you read the sсript for this week’s episode, “The First Time?”
Prior to getting the sсript Ryan approached Darren and I and told us that they were doing a virginity episode, and Darren and I just kind of looked at each other with wide eyes like, “Huh? What?’ And while we always have faith in the writers, we were a little skeptical. But then we got the sсript and shot it and everything was fine. What I thought could be raunchy and over-the-top was just very sweet and emotional. That’s kind of how it is with Glee. Ryan will come up and tell me they’re [tackling] this big, sensitive issue and I’ll freak out. But then I have no reason to freak out because it’s always handled really well.
TVLINE | This is arguably the most intimate you and Darren have been together — as characters and as actors. Was it awkward?
Not really. We just kind of dove in. People always make a big deal about a kissing scene or a love scene, but it really isn’t. You have to realize it’s you, another actor and a room full of 40 crew members.
TVLINE | When fans heard that I had screened the episode in advance they wanted very specific details about the love scene.
[Sigh] I know.
TVLINE | Specifically, they wanted to know if you were shirtless during it. I broke the bad news to them that you were wearing a shirt.
[Laughs] I was totally [prepared] to have to do a shirtless scene. Or at least wear like a tank [top] or something. I even asked if I could wear a tank and they said no.
TVLINE | Did they say why?
I think having two gay guys having sex on television was enough. They didn’t want to [reveal] a bunch of skin on top of it. I was like, “I want to wear a tank! Let me wear a tank!” [Ultimately], I wore a t-shirt.
TVLINE | My favorite scene in the episode was the one between Kurt and Karofsky [Max Adler] at the gay bar.
That was absolutely my favorite scene as well.
TVLINE | What did you like about it?
First, I was excited because I never actually shot a scene at a bar before. And there are just so many cool things you can do as an actor: you can grab your drink, you can play with a cherry, you can lean on the bar, you can lean on a stool. I loved that. And also it was great to see that character again and see what happened to [him]. The honesty behind [Karofsky] is kind of heartbreaking. That’s his life now. That grungy bar is the place where he found acceptance.
TVLINE | There’s a small segment of the Glee fan base pushing for a Kurt/Karofsky romance. And I have to say, after watching that scene, I kind of get it.
I think it’s a great idea. I think people love Kurt and Blaine so much that they would never stray from that. But maybe if Blaine and Kurt take a break that would be a great alternative. I would like to see that happen.
TVLINE | Speaking of which, the episode also marked the introduction of the first real threat for Kurt and Blaine: Sebastian.
Oh my God. I was so excited. When I found out that there was a character coming in to try and take Blaine away from Kurt my first thought was, “Why does nobody ever love Kurt? Why does nobody love me. Why does nobody ever pursue Kurt?” My second thought was that I was so excited that there was something coming up between Kurt and Blaine besides the puppy-dog love scenes they’ve been in since Season 2. I was so excited there was some kind of drama. I got to play Kurt in a territorial light, which I was excited about. I like Sebastian. I like his presence.
TVLINE | What kind of threat will he be moving forward?
We’ll see. I think Sebastian is one of those very promiscuous, driven characters that once they have their eyes on something they don’t give up easily. Let me just say this won’t be the last time we’ll see Sebastian try and steal Blaine.

в общем-то это все работа, кстати, практически все актеры так говорят о любовных сценах, на съемках которых присутствует уйма народу и режиссер еще дает ЦУ сверху.)
наиболее любимой историей для меня является та, когда Джеймс Мастерс специально наелся чеснока перед поцелуями с Сарой Мишель Геллар.))
если честно, когда я начала интересоваться Колфером, то я не подозревала, что он нынче вторая Бритни Спирс, то есть последний девственник Америки, но даже чуть-чуть углубившись в тему, видишь, что с маркетинговой точки зрения тут все очень серьезно. То есть это не просто так, убеждения и лайф-стайл, а целенаправленная пиар-кампания. Которая РАБОТАЕТ.

Помню, на меня снизошло озарение, когда я в пятницу, что ли, добралась до его цитат на оф. сайте, и там было про то, что он даже ругается культурно, заменяя буквы. И оч любопытная вариация мазерфакер приведена. Я такая "чего?" А потом "ну да". В общем, переломный момент. Когда из допустимого по совокупности факторов все уже делается спекулятивным.
В целом я думаю, что он именно тот, кем кажется, ну минус раздутия масс-медиа и прочая студийная шелуха.
Знает себе цену, но при этом довольно самокритичен, играет по правилам шоу-бизнеса (любим фанов).
То есть если он приходит на ток-шоу, то он знает, что на ток-шоу надо быть забавным, и он ведет себя забавно.
Тоже работа. А так он просто хотел бы заниматься своим делом и в курсе, что за это ему приходится платить общественной деятельностью.
При этом его не гнушаются вовлекать в такие откровенные сюжеты.
ну это Гли, там не бывает фулл-фронтал, а после так вообще заказывают гамбургеры.)
со стороны других фандомов очень интересно на это смотреть.
после первых сезонов авторам как-то приходится привлекать интерес к шоу.
И вот в третьем сезоне Мисфитс у нас Саймон уже в первой серии голый по пояс.
В шестом сезоне Сверхъестественного накачанные торсы пошли в третьей.
А тут у нас пятая, и народ очень волнуется, снимет Анечка маечку или нет.
Невинны, как мишки Тедди.
Но факт того, что с ним побеседовали об этом, и он испугался, тоже умиляет. )
да, КК частенько вызывает такую реакцию. Умиляться.)
я даже не могу понять, это Гли накладывает на него такой театральный отпечаток (вот все эти костюмы на Хэллоуин даже) или это он так уместен в нарисованных пейзажах Гли.

TVLINE | Какова была реакция, при прочтении сценария эпизода "First Time"?
До того как мы получили скрипт, Райан подошел к нам с Дарреном, и сказал, что они будут делать «девственный» эпизод, мы переглянулись с выпученными глазами: «А? Чхо?» И хотя мы всегда верим в сценаристов, в этот раз были настроены скептически. Но мы получили скрипт, отсняли эпизод и все прошло удачно. То, что я думал, может быть грубым и неуместным, на самом деле было очень милым и эмоциональным. Как это бывает в Glee. Райан скажет, что они взялись за этот большой, чувствительный вопрос, и я буду волноваться. Но у меня нет оснований волноваться, потому что всё всегда разрешается очень хорошо.
TVLINE |. Возможно это была самая интимная сцена с Дарреном - как для персонажей, так и для актеров. Было неловко?
Не совсем. Мы просто сделали это. Люди всегда придают большое значение поцелуям и любовным сценам, но на самом деле это не так. Ты должен осознать, что это ты, еще один актер и полное помещение народу – работников съемочной группы.
TVLINE | Когда фаны узнали, что я видел эпизод досрочно, они захотели узнать все подробности любовной сцены.
[Вздох] Я знаю.
TVLINE | В частности, они хотели знать, был ли ты без рубашки. Но – плохие новости – ты был в рубашке.
[Смеется] Я был готов сниматься без рубашки. Или, по крайней в майке или типа того. Я даже спросил, могу ли я сниматься в майке, и они сказали – нет.
TVLINE | Сказали почему?
Я думаю, что просто гей-секса в эфире и так достаточно. Они не хотели, ко всему прочему показывать ещё и обнажёнку. Я просил, "я хочу носить майку! Ну давайте я надену майку!" [В конечном счете], я был в футболке.
TVLINE | Моя любимая сцена в эпизоде была между Куртом и Карофски в гей-баре.
Да, это моя любимая сцена тоже.
TVLINE | Что в ней понравилось?
Во-первых, я был взволнован, потому что я никогда не участвовал в сцене в баре. И есть так много крутых вещей, которые можешь делать как актер: можешь взять напиток, можешь играть с вишенкой, можешь опереться на бар, можешь опереться на стул. Мне это нравилось. А так же было здорово снова видеть персонажа и то, что с ним случилось. Честность Карофски душераздирающа. Это его жизнь сейчас. Этот грязный бар - место, где он нашел признание.
TVLINE | Среди фанов Glee есть любители пары Курт/Карофски. И я должен сказать, что после просмотра этой сцены, я их понимаю, от части.
Я думаю, это отлично. Я думаю, что люди любят Курта и Блейна так сильно и не хотят от них отвлекаться. Но, может быть, если бы Блейн и Курт решили отдохнуть друг от друга, это было бы прекрасной альтернативой. Я хотел бы посмотреть на это.

О, мой Бог. Я был так взволнован. Когда я узнал, что вводят персонажа, хотящего забрать Блейна у Курта - моей первой мыслью было: "Почему никто не любит Курта? Почему никто не любит меня. Почему никто никогда не домогается Курта? " Моя вторая мысль была, что я взволнован, что что-то происходит между Куртом и Блейном помимо щенячьих любовных сцен, тянущихся со второго сезона. Я был так взволнован, что наконец-то привнесли какую-то драму. Я должен сыграть Курта в собственническом свете, по поводу чего я был взволнован. Мне нравится Себастьян. Мне нравится его присутствие.
TVLINE | Какую угрозу он будет нести?
Увидим. Я думаю, что Себастьян является одним из тех очень неразборчивых, движимых персонажей, которые если уж положили глаз на что-то, то легко не сдадутся. Скажу лишь, что это не последний раз, когда мы увидим, Себастьяна пытающегося увести Блейна.
